  • named 'Antei' (Anteus) after the giant son of Poseidon and Gaia of an ancient Greek saga

  • total production of 38 An-22 and 28 An-22A at factory 84 at Tashkent-Vostochny from 1965 until 1976
  • all An-22s belonged to the Soviet Air Force and carried an Aeroflot colour scheme but were never used by the airline
  • several An-22s still in service today
